Chanel Haute Couture, Spring/Summer 2018...

Hello lovelies!

January is such a grey month, particularly here in the North of England.  I'm always happy when Haute Couture week comes around, as it's always nice to see some fresh, spring fashion and to finally witness pops of colours against the grey hue that I feel surrounded by!  So yesterday, I was happy to be transported to Paris (in my mind!) to witness the beauty and grandeur of the latest Chanel Haute Couture show.

Set in my favourite Parisian location, the Grand Palais, Mr Lagerfeld was a genius once again at transporting us to another world via his beautiful vision for the show.  Guests were sat in the most luxurious garden, complete with archways and fountains.  Under the natural light of the glass roof, it's easy to forget that the show took place inside one of Paris's grandest buildings.

Much like the set, sculptural was the buzz word from the show.  As always, the tailoring was sensational and the intricate floral details beautiful and immaculate.  Pastel pinks and pretty spring flower colours were to be expected, but as always there were a few surprises up Karl Lagerfeld's sleeve!  Let me talk you through my favourite looks from the show:

 Look 3
 Look 4
Look 7

If the show was in themes, then the beginning definitely showed of Lagerfeld and his atelier's flare when it comes to tailoring and manipulating bouclĂ©, the house's signature material.  The stunning colour and structure of the dress in look 3, to the different skirt suit options in look's 4 and 7, made these looks top picks for me.  I love the subtle pink lining and the beautiful finish of both of the suits; another triumph in beautiful bouclĂ©.

Look 23

The use of structure and panelling in look 23, combined with the sparkle running through the fabric made it a real winner in my eyes.  Proof that black doesn't have to be dull, and can be part of your spring look if you dare to have some fun with it.

 Look 30
 Look 33

Pussy-bows and fuchsia pink ribbons, what's not to love about looks 30 and 33?!  I'm a sucker for a pussy-bow blouse, but the combination with the floral, flamenco-esque skirt updates the look and makes it strikingly different.  As for 33, I really admire the craftsmanship in the contrast between the detail and body-con structure to the skirt and the floating train-like finish; simply stunning!

 Look 38
 Look 41

It was the beautiful array of pinks that drew me to looks 38 and 41.  How amazing is the shape and detail of 41's bodice?

 Look 46
And Look 46 was very modern-day Barbarella!  I love the intricacy of the embroidery!  The final looks that I picked out (below), all seemed very modern-day bridal (particularly the final piece-we know Karl likes to save a bit of show-stopping bridal as a lasting legacy!).  59 would sit perfectly in an exhibition, it's a real work of art and craftsmanship.  Bravo once again Mr Lagerfeld, bravo!

 Look 50
 Look 59
 Look 65
The show-stopping finale, Look 68

Which were your favourite looks from the show?

Until next time,

OOTD and my new favourite jumper...

Hello lovelies!

I haven't been especially good at keeping to my resolution of posting two to three times a week, but I've had a pretty challenging start to 2018, which has kept me away from my little Coco world!  Nevertheless, it's onwards and upwards and I'm back with a bit of an outfit post.

Having a December 25th birthday, usually means not much celebrating during the Christmas period, and lots of celebrating in the new year.  The start of 2018 was no exception; I celebrated my birthday with my Mister on a bright early-January Saturday afternoon.  We had a fabulous meal at Chaophraya, a fabulous Thai restaurant in Newcastle.  The food was exceptional; but this is not a food blog...we all know we're really here to chat about what we wore (I'd definitely recommend the restaurant though and we'll definitely be going back!!!).

I don't often go out for drinks, so I decided to glam up!  I wore my new Mango coat (a birthday present from Mama Bear), my little Cavalli bag and my French Connection heels (you may have seen the post with tags on my IG here).  But I'm absolutely OBSESSED with my new Ted Baker dog jumper (similar here at time of posting), so I teamed it with a leather skirt for this outing...

...and then for my birthday tea with my gorgeous friend Krissi, I teamed it with a pair of black Aquascutum jeans and my trusty blazer by The Kooples.

I must perfect a new pose!

Krissi and a Kooples jacket, two of my fave K's!

So, for birthday outing one, my Mister looked rather handsome in Kenzo.  We're a little Kenzo obsessed at the moment (read about our purchases here).  We had a lovely afternoon, stuffing our faces with beautiful food, sharing pink fizz, and ending the evening with cocktails.

 Cocktails and Cavalli..the perfect combination!

My birthday outing number two with Krissi was much of the same!  Fabulous food, lots of giggles and beautiful cocktails, it was the perfect way to celebrating turning 32 (and doing it in style!).  It was Thai food again for outing number two, this time at Fusion at Ramside, a great restaurant and a wonderful night!

I test drove my new Louboutin nail polish...A-MAZ-ING!

Carrie eat your heart out-it's always a Cosmo for me!

Miss K looking fabulous as always!

Until next time lovelies,

Here's to a positive 2018!

Hello Boxing Day sale purchases...

Hello lovelies!

I hope that you're finding January bearable so far! I'm here to talk a little bit today about the Boxing Day sales (even though it seems forever ago!) and to share my main purchase (and a couple of others!)

Boxing Day is a funny one for me; I like going out and shopping, but sometimes I just don't understand the carnage that comes along with trying to hunt out a bargain!  A few years ago, I made a deal with myself to only buy something if I either needed it or I was scouting it out before the sale,  otherwise I could spend forever hunting for a bargain that I didn't really want or being seduced by the price.  I'm sure we've all had that experience of getting something home and then wondering why we bought it in the first place-I know I have!  The other thing is, if you're just there to see what you can find, sales can be pretty overwhelming things.  My Mister however, loves a Boxing Day shop-I think it might even be his favourite day of the year!  So I potter around behind him, letting him do his thing, and if I see something along the way, well that's just an added bonus!  This year was very much one of those occasions!

Our plan of action is usually to get up early and head to Newcastle for our sale shopping, before it descends into madness later on.  Our hit list is usually Fenwick (which didn't used to open on Boxing Day-but now does and has amazing deals) and Cruise.  Both sell higher-end stuff and both have genuine sale prices on the day.  I also like visiting Marks and Spencer; I buy a lot of clothes from there anyway, so there are usually things that I'm after during sale time.   This year was no different and Fenwick was heaving!  My Mister managed to grab himself a few things, Paul Smith jeans and a shirt (which ended up going back) but there wasn't anything that I was enamoured with in womenswear.  Good old Marks and Spencer came good though; I picked up a gorgeous jumper (half price at £12.50) and a lace shirt I'd been after for a while, reduced from £45 to £19!  I'd resigned myself to the fact that that's probably all I would get, until I headed to Cruise!

All about the detail in this jumper!

Again, there were great bargains to be had for my Mister; he got a Kenzo shirt for half price at £60!

The shirt in question!

It's a good one too, and one I know he'll wear it forever!  I on the other hand, wasn't looking for a handbag, but as is usually the case with me, I managed to find one...

Half price at £130 from £260, my Christmas money was gone in a flash!  I absolutely love it, I love the detail, the size, the fact that it fits my purse and that it will be perfect for both through the day and on an evening.  I love when you spot something like that and it's such a good price!  Thank you Cruise (and Kenzo!).  I looked online at Flannels (same company) to see if there were any left, but the closest I could find in the sale was this one here.  But if you're just looking for a new handbag in general, they still seem to have loads of great deals online here too!

Did you manage to find anything decent in the sales this year?

If so, please let me know!

Until next time,

Kay xxx

Fashionable Gifts Reveal Part Two...

Hello lovelies!

Today I want to talk some more about the lovely gifts I got for my birthday and Christmas, concentrating on those of a more fashionable theme.  Even at 32, I still love surprises and was really pleased this year, as although I'd dropped a few hints, I really didn't have a clue about what I was getting.  My Mister in particular is really good at choosing presents for me (I know, he's a keeper AND he loves to shop!) and this year he did an amazing job once again!  I must've been on the nice list!

Presents from my Mister...

Some of these will definitely be featuring on my Instagram account over the coming weeks as outfit posts (some have already!).  Starting briefly with the non-fashion things, I was really excited to get Jamie Oliver's new cookbook as I'm always looking for new, healthy meals to cook and a milk-frother for our coffees, after being super impressed with my friend Krissi's (she makes the best coffees!); I must've talked about it a lot as now I have one of my very own!  Also, the little Macro-Pro lens will really come in handy for my blogging (I intend to feature this in a post of it's own once I've had chance to master it!).

Okay, so my mega-hint dropping must've worked as I was so excited to get a blue box...

...I've been happily spritzing away every day of the holidays!  It's definitely my new favourite scent!

Next up, I want to talk about my amazing Ted Baker jumper featuring the cutest French Bulldog!  I'd never seen this before; it was a perfect pick-I absolutely love it!  I've worn it with jeans but I think it'll look equally as cute with a long, flared skirt.  I love the rose-gold detail, which carries on onto the back.  My friend Nikita was also spotted this week wearing a dog jumper, a possible 2018 trend? I hope so!

My dressing gown and joggers are both UGG, and are super-cosy and snug.  I'm developing quite an UGG collection; the quality of their products is outstanding!  The massive snug coat you can also see in the top photo was my 'big' present (according to my Mister-I loved them all!).  It's an Armani coat (similar here), filled with duck-feather down as I simply don't have a warm coat for everyday.  It's like wearing a permanent hug and will be perfect for future winter trips to Edinburgh or London; perfection (don't worry; the trim is faux fur!).

Last and by no means least was my beautiful blouse by Gestuz, a brand I wasn't really familiar with but one which sells the most beautiful things.  Again, he picked so well as it's just what I would've chosen; the boy did good!

My beautiful Mama Bear bought me a lovely fitted jacket from Mango as a joint Christmas and birthday present (she also got me some other little goodies too, including Blue: Our Story-I LOVE Blue!).  I've been wanting a dressy jacket for a while that was a bit warmer than the ones I own and I've already worn it loads-it's gorgeous! Thanks Mama!

Another present I received was my lovely Designer's Guild notebook from Krissi.  She also bought me a Paris travel doodle journal, a Wellness thermos (in the cutest shade of pink) and a Parisian cocktail-making book; all perfect for a blogger and a fashion-loving Francophile.

From my lovely Twitter friend Fiona, I got this cute little Coco Chanel quote book.  Quite possibly the wisest woman that ever lived, certainly in fashion, I'll definitely be sharing some of the quotes across social media in the future-thanks Fi!

My cousin Sally got my the most gorgeous Gucci-esque bag from Accessorise; it's absolutely beautiful! And she got me a bottle of Louboutin nail-varnish (similar here), which is like a unicorn horn and looks absolutely stunning standing on my windowsill with my perfumes!  Such generous gifts; I can't wait to use them!

My friend Hannah reminded me that I need to pick up my fashion drawing again, with this beautiful Pantone fashion designer notebook and some new pencils.  I can't wait to put pencil to paper, it's long overdue (thanks Hann!).

As you can see from the photo, I got loads of other amazing gifts too, I really was spoiled this year and I'm so, so grateful to every person that was kind enough to buy me something, send me a card or take time out of their day to wish me a Happy Birthday, it's always appreciated more than you know! This post concentrates on the fashion-related purchases, but everything I received was amazing-thank you everyone from the bottom of my heart!

Stay tuned for my sale purchases!

Until next time,

Kay xxx

Fashionable Gifts Reveal Part One: A little bit of Burberry...

Hello lovelies!

Christmas is a funny affair; you wait so long for it to come around, and before you know it, it's over in the blink of an eye!  Well that's exactly how I feel about my birthday too, being a Christmas Day baby isn't all it's cracked up to be; I never feel like I've celebrated!  However, I did get some amazing gifts from my gorgeous friends and family, and in true Coco tradition, I'm going to focus on my fashion-related gifts over a couple of posts.

Today's is about an overwhelming gift.  Those of you that follow Coco will know that I'm an avid Burberry enthusiast and love nothing more than visiting the flagship store on Regent Street, London, whether it's just for a browse or for yummy afternoon tea.  Well this Christmas-Birthday, I received the most beautiful Burberry gift from my best friend, and I've enlisted Bertie and Sid to help with the reveal...

When I opened the wrapping and saw the iconic Burberry box with my initials on the tag, I didn't know what to expect underneath the tissue paper...

Monogrammed to perfection, it was the most beautiful Burberry Continental wallet in navy and trademark nova check!  I was absolutely gobsmacked!  Natalie always buys the loveliest of gifts, but this totally blew me away and I totally wasn't expecting it!  I'm so grateful for her kindness and her friendship; this wallet will be forever cherished and looked after!

I've quickly moved in; I love taking it out of my bag and really can't believe that something so beautiful actually belongs to me!  A lovely addition to my little growing Burberry collection!  As Natalie rightly said, you can't be a Burberry enthusiast without a monogrammed piece of your own, and now I have one; all thanks to my bestie!

Stay tuned for part two,

Until next time,

Kay xxx
