We ate at Bills don't you know?

Hello lovelies!

I hope you've had an amazing weekend!  Today's post is of the food variety *if you're hungry, look away now*

One sunny Saturday in February, my friend Chloe and her boyfriend Simon invited my Mister and I to try out Bill's in Durham.  She had been invited by Bill's for review purposes and was allowed to bring along three guests, so kindly invited us.  Never one to miss out on a blogging opportunity and some brilliant company, I grabbed my camera and off we went.  Bill's is a well established chain across the UK, but is a new addition to the many wonderful restaurants on offer in Durham.  It sits perfectly on Saddler Street, a beautifully cobbled little runway which leads straight to Durham Cathedral.

My Mister and I arrived (slightly late-sorry Chloe!) and were greeted by the hustle and bustle of a busy Bill's with a great atmosphere and ambiance.  We were shown straight to our table towards the back of the restaurant, up a small flight of stairs.  The room was light and airy, with beautiful chandeliers and exposed brickwork.  The large windows made the light in the room perfect for taking photographs; a blogger's dream.  But enough about that, let's look at some food shall we?

Chris and I had never been to Bill's before, but had been promised an amazing menu from both Chloe, and my VBF who has visited both the York and Durham establishments and loved them both.  I couldn't wait to see what was on offer!  Even the drinks menu looked amazing!  I chose the pink lemonade which I'd heard great things about (it didn't disappoint!) and it even came topped with a generous helping of strawberries.  Chloe chose a cream soda with rhubarb, Chris opted for a simple Diet Coke and Simon got the mother of all milkshakes, the brownie milkshake served with cream and a flake!  It looked delicious, but I fear it would've finished me off!!

Being cake lovers, we decided to skip starters in favour of leaving room for dessert.  Choosing my main course was a battle in itself as there were so many mouth-wateringly good choices that I didn't want to risk dreaded food envy.  Being a fish lover, I opted for the pan-fried Sea Bass served with avocado on top of a delicious crispy spring onion and parsley potato rosti.  When it arrived I was worried that it wasn't going to be that filling but it definitely was and the flavours were stunning.  The fish wasn't too oily and it melted in my mouth.  There was no food envy on my part!  The boys opted for a good old Bill's burger each and Chloe chose mac 'n' cheese.  Everyone's meals looked delicious!

After a short rest it was back to the menu to choose our desserts.  I ordered Bill's lemon meringue cheesecake in a glass because the idea of it intrigued me but it was truly a taste sensation!  The vanilla ice-cream complimented it beautifully; I wanted it to last forever.  Chloe ordered the rhubarb and ginger creme brulee, Simon opted for Eton mess and Chris being Chris ordered a chocolate brownie, which although was a little on the small side for him, he assured me it was one of the best he'd ever eaten (and he's eaten loads of them!!).

A fabulous afternoon with wonderful company, we'll definitely be visiting Bill's again.  Next time I might even bring a bit of Bill's home with me, as there were some fab little goodies available in the restaurant shop too (a restaurant shop is always a good idea!).

I loved the rustic interior; every little corner was so photogenic that it was a perfect place for me to be snap happy!  Finally, I couldn't be more complimentary of the staff; they were helpful and so enthusiastic about the wonderful menu that I almost wanted to invite our waitress to join us!  Top marks to Bill's; I can't wait to come back and sample the breakfast menu!

These two photos are courtesy of Chloe cam-thanks Chloe!

Thanks to Bill's for having us and to Chloe for inviting us!  Although the meal was for review purposes all my opinions are honest and my own; Bill's is amazing, I'd definitely recommend it for your next Durham visit!
