Day 9: Durham Christmas Market...

Hello lovelies!

On Friday I took lovely Mama L to Durham Christmas market which took place under a huge marquee on Palace Green, right in front of the Cathedral.  I visited the market a couple of years ago with my VBF and couldn't wait to see what was on offer this year.  The market ran from the 5th to the 7th of December and as we booked our tickets online, it only cost us £2.50 each for entry (normally £3 on a Friday and £4 on Saturday and Sunday), an absolute steal!!

The market had so much to offer, we didn't know where to start!  There were goodies made from Harris Tweed, handmade tree decorations, jewellery, food, cheese, beer-all of the festive goodies you could ever wish for!  I love handmade Christmas goodies, so markets like these are right up my street-and Mama L's!  They are such nice places to visit to help us get into the Christmas spirit!

My first purchase was this gorgeous handmade squirrel (just £1.50!) which I bought to add to the garland on my fireplace (I plan to post about my Christmassy home during the advent series!).  I couldn't resist him; he's so cute and traditional!  I also bought a cute little robin for £1 for the other side of the garland; I'd banned myself from buying any more for my tree, after a Disney Store splurge which saw me buy half their range!!

I love traditional Christmas ornaments, but Mama L has the most beautiful Disney decorations for her tree that remind me so much of my childhood and Christmas, that I try to replicate this a little in my own home.  So with that in mind, I couldn't resist this Winnie the Pooh dressed as Santa.  He was an ex-display Pooh from the Disney Store and another bargain at £7.99.  He's sitting pride of place at home beside my Winnie the Pooh Santa sack (which I've had for twelve years!!).

I'm OBSESSED with scented candles and recently treated myself to an oil burner.  There was a gorgeous and reasonably priced Soya wax melt stall (I think I got four waxes for around £3.80!) and I think they even smell better than Yankee's.  I'd really recommend the Candy Cane scent which smells exactly like Kendal mint cake-yummy!

I could've spent a lot more; there were so many things that I loved, but I tried to restrain myself with it being so close to Christmas!  I kept away from the food stalls but the fudge looked absolutely delicious!  Mama L got herself a slab of specialist cheese made with Garlic and Parsley which she tells me is irresistible!

We had a really lovely time and left with a great feeling of Christmas cheer! I can't wait for the main event! xxx
