Day 21: A little bit of Chanel...Part One

Hello lovelies!

For Day 21 of my advent posts (can't believe there's only four days left of advent!!) I thought I'd do a non Christmas related post and talk about the opulence and elegance of the Chanel Metiers d'Art collection that previewed a few weeks ago at the Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria.  Those who know me or my blog know that as much as I really can't afford it, I can't stay away from Chanel.  I love the gorgeous tailoring and detailing that goes into each collection; Karl Lagerfeld is a real genius as far as I'm concerned.  So here it is, my take on the show and my favourite looks from the collection...

The intimacy of this show is what made it so special.  It was almost like having a Chanel preview in your living room (if your living room was in a mansion!).  It was interesting also that menswear featured in the show.  The collection for me was the epitome of winter.  Earmuffs and long thick fur and boucle jackets featured heavily and the dark colours of winter were very apparent too.  What I love about Chanel is the attention to detail in each collection.  Pretty lace and intricate jewellery took centre stage in amongst the wintry fabrics and colours.   Later in the show, there was a spring influence too, with pastels and daisy prints taking over.  Here were my preferred looks from the show:

Look 1
I love the detailing on this skirt and jacket.  It was both eye-catching and breathtaking.  Simple, yet beautiful!

Look 6
I think I must have my Christmas head on with this one, but I think the red and gold is beautiful, in fact almost regal.  It's almost like it's come straight out of Narnia!

Look 8
How stunning and intricate is this coat? Need I say more?

Look 11
I am a complete sucker for a military style jacket and anything in red and navy and I'm sold!  The Boy bag is stunning too.  Please Santa?

Look 12
One for the boys and again a stunningly detailed coat to die for.  Exquisite!

Look 29
I chose this look for the attention to detail alone.  Here is in example of the use of lace in the collection.  It's certainly a homage to Gabrielle Chanel's work and so beautifully presented.

Look 48

The photograph here doesn't do this beautiful jacket justice.  Watch it on the runway, the detail is stunning and catches the light beautifully.

There were so many looks I loved this time it was difficult to put a favourites collection together.  I particularly enjoyed the homage to Austria with mock Lederhosen featured too.  You can watch the whole show here.  Which looks were your favourites?
