Day 14: Festive afternoon tea at the Vermont...

Hello lovelies!

I thought for Day 14 of Coco's advent I would tell you all about our latest Cake Club adventure!  After probably the most hectic week I've ever had at work this close to Christmas, I was really looking forward to meeting up with my blogging ladies at the gorgeous Vermont hotel in Newcastle for a festive Christmas catchup!  Everyone has been up to so much since we last all got together, it was so lovely to see everyone and hear all about their adventures!

Chloe and I were first to arrive and nestled ourselves on the comfiest leather sofa you could ever wish to be sat on!!  The setting was beautiful and so relaxing, the fireplace was trimmed with beautiful fairy lights, and we were sat next to an amazing grand piano.  I was so tired from my 'Vintage Voices' gig from the previous night (another story for another day!) that I could've gone to sleep, but the promise of cake and conversation kept me going!  Oh, and I was super excited for our blogger's Secret Santa!

Once everyone had arrived, we ordered tea which was quickly followed by our festive afternoon tea stands.  The arrangement was beautiful, I couldn't wait to tuck in!  There were turkey and stuffing, bacon and brie, egg and cress and smoked salmon and cucumber sandwiches, plain and fruit scones with the most delicious clotted cream and jam, and chocolate mousses, cheesecakes, sticky toffee cakes, mini mince pies, meringues and chocolate straws for dessert.  We were also given the cutest mini candy canes and truffles too and a gorgeous glass of mulled wine!

We spent a lot of the afternoon gossiping whilst enjoying our sandwiches and scones, but decided to have a little break to do our Secret Santa.  We each put our presents into a big bag and gave them out so we could all open them together.  It was so exciting watching everyone open them to see what they got!

Once opened, we each tried to guess who our presents were from (I guessed wrong!!).  Chloe was my Secret Santa, and I absolutely adore my Paris themed present!  She got me a little box of  French macarons and the cutest little Paris shoe-clips; I couldn't have picked better if I'd chosen them myself!  I'm so annoyed though, as I've only just realised I didn't get a photo of Chloe with her presents (sorry Chloe!) or one of me, but we were all happy with our goodies!

It was then time for cake and more gossip before paying up and heading home (via a few shops!!).  My favourite of the cakes was definitely the mini cheesecake, but I was so full that I couldn't manage them all! The afternoon tea was lovely all round, and for everything we had and all the cups of tea we managed to drink, I thought it was a bargain at £14.95 per head; the perfect start to the run up to Christmas.

Thanks to my blogging ladies for another wonderful Cake Club outing and Merry Christmas to you all!  PS-thanks Chloe for my amazing present!
