The Scone Bar, Richmond, North Yorks

Hello lovelies!

As all good bloggers know, life is so much better when it involves cake! Honestly? I only go out running so I can indulge in all things cake at every opportunity.  So when my Mister told me that our lovely friend Jane had opened her own tea room in Richmond, I couldn't wait to try it...squeeeeee!!

The Scone Bar...damn that man for photobombing!
Jane's little establishment is called 'The Scone Bar', and it's everything that you could ever want from a tea room.  I feel like tea room isn't the right way to describe's more of a cake and scone emporium!  But that's not all, there are sandwiches and delicious soups on offer too!

On entering, we were greeted by the lovely Jane who was dressed head-to-toe in Edwardian clothes, as were all of the waitresses which really added to the feel of the place.  The first thing that caught my eye was the gorgeous selection of cakes and scones paraded in front of me in glass mouth was already watering and I hadn't even gotten through the door!

Some of the cakes on offer...and Jane hiding!

One of the waitresses then led us upstairs to our table, where we sat and started to try and choose what to have.  My Mister and I hadn't had lunch yet so opted for vegetable soup, but obviously it would've been rude not to have one of the amazing scones as well to round off lunch perfectly.  We all chose white chocolate and cranberry scones, Mister's mammy and I just got butter with ours but he chose popcorn cream for his (they do unique creams to put on your scones too!) and I have to say it was one of the best things I have ever tasted!  The menu is massive, and there are scones to suit every taste, sweet and savoury.  But if scones aren't your thing the cakes looked pretty impressive too and I hear the lemon cake is out of this world! And that's not all, I have to also mention that the soup was super filling and so tasty...I wish I'd asked Jane for the recipe so I could make some at home.  Jane was also kind enough to give us three little complimentary scones with cream to try too, so needless to say after my visit I felt like I needed a lie-down to recover!

A word to the wise, if you're visiting Richmond, 'The Scone Bar' is often quite busy, but Jane will definitely do her best to accommodate you.  There aren't a huge amount of tables, but there's plenty of room as the building itself is quite tall, so you don't feel like you're sitting on top of the people around you.  If you can't get in at dinner time, I'd recommend hanging around until there are tables available, no visit to Richmond town centre now will feel complete without a visit!

You can find out more about what's on offer at 'The Scone Bar' on their website here.  Alternatively, you can also find them on Facebook here.

Thanks Jane for the wonderful hospitality, we'll certainly be visiting again the next time we're in Richmond!
